Who says all press is good press?

You know how they say any publicity is good publicity! Well, that might apply in case you are launching a new restaurant or something, but if you ask Ronn Torossian, the founder and CEO of one of the most noted and successful PR companies, 5WPR, it’s not always the case.

Siting the example of Tiger Woods, Rob Ford and Alex Rodriguez, the Public relations guru points out how it was in fact, bad press that pushed their careers back, a couple of steps. Ronn went on to point out the irony of how musician, MIA got annoyed with Lynn Hirschberg from the New York times in 2010 when she portrayed the music artist in bad light after interviewing her.

According to Ronn Torossian, MIA should have expected something like that, following Lynn’s unsavory report about Courtney Love, just a few days before she interviewed MIA.

The consensus that Ronn finally arrived upon was that while getting the media’s attention will work in your favor on most occasions, good PR means picking the right moments with it and avoiding it in the kind of a situation where you think it might hamper your hard-earned reputation.
